Practice-Based Evidence:
Making Best Evidence Work for You
2003 April
CHE, in conjunction with the Physician Office System Program (POSP),
is running a Practice-Based Evidence (PBE) initiative here in Alberta.
This includes a workshop series, a train-the-trainer program, and
the POSPPBE Desktop, all of which have been developed by the Centre for
Health Evidence.
The POSPPBE Desktop is now available by subscription to all Alberta Medical
Association members. It is a private, personalized workspace which facilitates
the teaching of evidence-based medicine and the use of electronic information
resources.
For more details, including an interactive tour of the POSPPBE Desktop, visit

Become a Sentinel Reader for ACP Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine
2003 January
If you are in current clinical practice in family practice or internal medicine
or its subspecialties, please join us as a Sentinel Reader. As a Sentinel Reader,
we’ll send you “hot off the press” articles, matched to your interests, at a rate
that you can control (eg, 4 articles per month).
As a Sentinel Reader:
- You will look over articles online and rate them on 2 scales
- one for relevance to your clinical practice and
- one for newsworthiness (eg, is this “news”, or something you already know?).
- We’ll collate your ratings with at least 2 other colleagues and use your ratings to
- choose the most pertinent articles to abstract in ACP Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine
- show you how other clinicians in your discipline rated the same articles
We know you’ll enjoy the task: it’s easy to do and informative.
